Was great. Now purchased exercises seem to be lost. Not sure what is going on at this company. This is not rocket science. When will this be fixed?

Most recent update still makes app USELSS for long term use as a workout planner. Im now using Body Space - which has hundreds of long term workout plans which are fully track-able and customizable. Gain has sacrificed all functionality for a barely more aesthetic app. Ive been using this app to build long term custom workout plans for over 3 years and have LOVED it - Now it is useless.
This is my first time writing a review, which shows just how terrible this new update is. Before the most recent update, I would recommend this app to everyone I knew. I loved how customizable it was to my personal needs. The update has completely gotten rid of everything that made this app so great. Before I would have given this app 5 stars, now I wish I could give it -5. Please listen to your loyal users and bring the app that we loved so much back!!!
I miss being able to customize workouts. With artificial knees some exercises are a big no-no. This change is very disappointing. Will not be referring this
I really loved this app. Since the update I cant even see my old progress or routines.
I loved this app. Now this is totally useless. This is NOT the application I purchased. Im angry and looking for the way to vent. Thats why Im writing this. This app was SO great because I could fully customize the workouts. I could pick the level, time and focused area to create my workout routine. Since I workout at the gym room with only dumbbells and bench, I checked off the equipments I didnt have at the settings. I could add or subtract the workouts. You name it. Anything was customizable. I created many workout routines. Now its ALL gone. Not only customizable ability but also my workout routines I created. Best to worst! Now I have to look for the replacement app and get rid of this crap.
Ive used this app for years and have found it to be an essential workout companion. However, the latest update has effectively ruined the app by removing all of its functionality and customization. Its now a list of canned workouts rather than a sophisticated way to plan and manage your fitness program. To add insult to injury, Ive spent about $60 over the years with them on various workout packs, none of which I can access post the update. Total disaster, stay away and look elsewhere for a fitness app. Update: Theyve released a new version but its substantially the same as the previous version which chose to forgo all that was appealing about the app previously. Custom workouts continue to be missing, ability to auto generate workouts based on equipment available is also still missing and, most importantly, access to exercise packs for which we paid is still missing with no signs of returning. They really went for form over substance, sad to see that happen to what was once the best fitness app in the App Store. Further Update: The Gain team continues to push out updates none of which contain any substantive fixes to the serious issues with the app identified by myself and numerous other users over the last several months. Further, Gain support doesnt acknowledge or respond to emails regarding these issues. Very disappointing to see how the app quality and customer service have deteriorated.
Isnt taking something you paid for away basically stealing from the customer?
This app used to be great. With the last update it is totally useless. All of my custom workouts are gone. All of the things that made this app awesome, like generating workouts based on equipment, are gone. This app has gone from the best workout app available to totally useless. Please revert this to the previous version that everyone loved ASAP!
This was a great app with lots of workouts and a well thought out UX. Then they killed it. Its now useless.
First app review. I am so angry by app developers that take a wonderful app with so many great features and take all of the great features away and are so PROUD of it. This app and Penultimate bought by Evernote are great examples of app developer hubris and egotism that has turned to disaster. Shame on this developer.
It was a great customizable app, rock solid and reliable. One could choose from their workouts or build your own custom workout, varying exercises (chest day, anyone?), sets, rest times, etc. It logged workouts, estimated calories, even interfaced with Runkeeper. Now its just another cross-fit type app where youre told what exercises to do with no customization since, after all, a personal trainer who has never met you knows much more about how you need to train than you do, especially when they can incorporate the latest fads (skip the bench press, do those wall Hindu push ups instead - Im sure thats what Arnold does!). If youre looking for that kind of app, Im sure GAIN will deliver. If youre looking the customizable version described above, sorry, you missed the boat. Update: still crap.
I honestly believe the developers must have intentionally sabotaged this app. Its not even the same app anymore. GAIN use to be fully customizable and interactive. It was the perfect app for someone who needed a simple way to personally build and track their workouts. Everything that made this app great is gone and whats left is basically just a list of pre-made workouts. This is the worst update to an app Ive ever seen in the 5 years Ive owned an iPhone.
I honestly used to love this app. Custom workouts, 4 week plans and the ability to switch out equipment when the gym was crowded. Unfortunately with the latest update this has all changed. Now all the features I loved are gone and the app has become generic. And not even a good generic workout app either, there are simply better options out there. In all they took something unique and made it common and subpar. Not to mention I now question where all my money went in buying extra workout packs.
This may be the worst change to a program I have experienced. They took out everything good in exchange for free use of all the workouts, most of which I dont want to use anyway. Way to try and profit more at the expense of a quality app.
How stupid do you have to be to completely gut a popular, functional app, and THEN when everyone comes out of the woodwork to burn you at the stake, NOT see the error of your ways and roll back the changes? Arent all of these one star reviews ruining your business? What benefit could you possibly gain from removing functionality and ignoring paying customers?!
I used to LOVE this app, I could input the type of equipment I have available, what part of the body I want to focus on (or do full body), how much time I have available and how many times a week I could workout -- it would generate a workout for me that was even easy to switch some exercises here and there. I bought a bunch of the expansion packs for variety. Now its ALL gone. No customization, no ability to input what equipment I have available, all the packs I paid for completely gone with no explanation. I used to recommend this app to anyone who would listen and now I dont even want to waste precious iPhone space having this installed. The app is a completely different app than what I had over the years. So disappointed. Stay away.
Like most other recent reviews state, prior to the current updates, this app was a pleasure to use. I enjoyed the customizable workouts and the variety of options offered. The update has some new workout plans, but they are in a "one size fits all" format. I wish there were a way to modify the workouts/make them more suitable to my needs. Im Hoping for an update that will correct this. The older version was my go-to for all of my weight training sessions!
I used to use this app every day in the gym. It was customizable and really helped me establish a routine. I even liked it so much that I had purchased about half of the expansion packs and planned to buy more. Well thanks to the update this app is no longer usable. It used to have something special going for it but now its like every other app where you have to choose a routine from a pre set list that does not track past accomplishments nor takes into account different body types, fitness goals, or experience levels. The same issues are present with the yoga app by the same company; I used to love it and now its just taking up space on my phone. I still have hope that they could turn this app around but it went from my favorite workout app and the only one that really worked for me to a horrible experience. Not to mention the app is confusing, hard to navigate and does not function to the level at which an app should. Shame on this company!
No longer can you customize workouts and all of the packs that I purchased over the last few years (quite a lot of $ spent) are gone. Absolutely crazy that they took a great app with awesome features and made it into a lame app. Totally disappointed.
